Is an Oxendine Cabal Taking over the Republican Party?

Anybody else notice this?

Everybody knows John Oxendine is running for Governor. Some people know that Maria Sheffield is his handpicked replacement for Insurance Commissioner. Who would have thought his campaign manager/senior policy advisor would throw in the towel over at Ox, Inc. and make a run for the PSC! Coincidence? I think not.

While picking your replacement is nothing new in Georgia politics, having your campaign manager/senior policy advisor bail out in mid race to run for elected office is a first to my knowledge. But then again it's the PSC race and the PSC is second only to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner in graft and corruption potential.

So if the Ox wins the Governorship by hook or Diebold, and his girl Maria picks up the Insurance Commissioner gig the same way and little Timmy can nab a spot on the PSC, then the Oxendine Cabal will be sitting smack dab on top of three huge rivers of cash and other goodies. And we know the Ox likes his cash. And his goodies. I suspect his proteges have similar affinities.

We'll have to wait and see how the primaries turn out over there in republicanland to figure out if this particular piece of wild speculation has any legs. I don't know of any other candidate for Governor who has two of his prior underlings/minions/flunky's in the hunt for statewide elected office this election cycle, but I could have missed it. If any of the readership has any tasty morsels along those lines, please chime in.
