<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There she is kids, the newest Restomod off the production line. This gun was part of a package deal for stock work and I was really impressed with the quality of the roll stamp on the butt stock logo so I decided to keep it and the factory paint.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Not stripping the metal work and fire blueing it saved a lot of time and effort and the result is quite nice, aside from some issues on the left side of the gun most likely the result of whatever removed the cheezy latigo loop. See below.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Whatever. The unit still has the factory power plant, the factory plastic trigger but it's an older one with out that annoying anti-bear trap mechanism. I did replace the plastic lever with a new production Daisy metal loop and installed a fiber optic front sight.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xZkggHc87Ec/XeBSadTNylI/AAAAAAAASZ0/sPg6Jvhd0EQmw7TOfwh94YSivNF5vA9sQCKgBGAsYHg/s1600/IMG_20191127_182910.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1428" data-original-width="1600" height="570" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xZkggHc87Ec/XeBSadTNylI/AAAAAAAASZ0/sPg6Jvhd0EQmw7TOfwh94YSivNF5vA9sQCKgBGAsYHg/s640/IMG_20191127_182910.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These work really well and should be a part of every Daisy upgrade you do. Of course keeping the original butt stock doesn't mean you have to leave it stock, so I did some curly maple overlays on the wrist, chucked the original fore end for a new curly maple unit with out a barrel band and Voila!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It should have looked this way when it left the factory. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Greetings All,</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's been quite a while since I posted here at Bludgeon & Skewer so it must be time for an update!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-efatocDY1QE/XVWCj9gpw4I/AAAAAAAAQfY/kQ8ZLTzjywovmBe0CyVZjdkjT13PkQZkgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20190807_115106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-efatocDY1QE/XVWCj9gpw4I/AAAAAAAAQfY/kQ8ZLTzjywovmBe0CyVZjdkjT13PkQZkgCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20190807_115106.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's a trio Restomod Daisy Model 1938's. Note the Tyrolean-ish buttstock. Keen to look at and shoot but difficult to make. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tGocse3f5gE/XVWCj9SZlTI/AAAAAAAAQfY/Khj5nL4TaowV0EkvyveFo1-j9FZ75JhvACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20190807_100936.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="574" data-original-width="1600" height="229" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tGocse3f5gE/XVWCj9SZlTI/AAAAAAAAQfY/Khj5nL4TaowV0EkvyveFo1-j9FZ75JhvACKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20190807_100936.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've acquired a goodly collection of Daisy Model 1938 Red Ryder's and a smattering of Daisy #111 Model 40's and have been converting them to Rest-O-Mod Model Mark 1's and well as a foray into the new standard, the Mark 2.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e96URBm3EPg/XVWEtXOkbYI/AAAAAAAAQfk/fztOU-4vmiUhSHLa0kkjCExgpRQB3hK9ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20190718_202635.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="903" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e96URBm3EPg/XVWEtXOkbYI/AAAAAAAAQfk/fztOU-4vmiUhSHLa0kkjCExgpRQB3hK9ACKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20190718_202635.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Mark 2 features all the design elements of the Mark 1's with the addition of a new factory Model 25 50 round spring loaded shot tube and the necessary mods for it to fit these older model Daisy's. The plus side is the elimination of the need for gravity to position the BB in the chamber and the plus plus side is that the copper muzzled Mark 2's are running at an average of 35 FPS faster than the stock "split" shot tubes are capable of.</span></div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The ready rack is getting packed again so it might be time for a "Blow the Dust Off" sale.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HpLiphkhf9U/XR-CUQr70oI/AAAAAAAAP14/_yEF_zY9JpA9KdwDIf9piIfQln69neusQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_20190528_103803.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="490" data-original-width="1360" height="230" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HpLiphkhf9U/XR-CUQr70oI/AAAAAAAAP14/_yEF_zY9JpA9KdwDIf9piIfQln69neusQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_20190528_103803.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sure hope so.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The planetary market for highly modified antique Daisy products is far from brisk, minuscule would be an overstatement and sustainable is a pipe dream. Fortunately I have quite a few pipes and am a big believer in dreams.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm personally hoping the hoopla resonating in the UFO/Bigfoot/Paranormal communities as a result of the TicTac revelations bears fruit in the near future in the form of an official visit by at least one of the 23 races/cultures/collectives of alien/extra-dimensional/extra galactic beings to establish a trade mission. It is probably time for the planetary powers that be to admit that they've monetized everything that's nailed down and most of the moving stuff and all this secrecy is standing in the way of more profits.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So with an eye to the future I want our alien/extra-dimensional/extra-galactic brothers and sisters to know that there's at least one person on planet earth that wants to start horsetrading. That would be me, I currently have a great selection of primitive lever action bean shooters that would be the talk of the town on Cygnus 4 or any other spot in the known and unknown universe. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If interested, drop by in one of those new scorpion shaped two seaters some of you guys have been tooling around in lately. Once you get your hands/claws/tentacles/whatever on one of these Restomod Daisy's you're gonna want take it home. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Please note that supplies are limited and it's first landing/contact first served. I'm not inclined to accept Booliean trade units in exchange but will cheerfully complete the transaction for nugget sized diamonds, unobtanium or appropriately packaged 5 gallon containers of element 115.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">See you soon!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<br />
This is a damn good lookin' Daisy Model 1894.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y6SaQWvCD9w/XPprGiGSvGI/AAAAAAAAPQs/AY-QTkZ-kKIS3yXWxQjiBrV0vIHXj-gkgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20190606_201005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="575" data-original-width="1360" height="270" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y6SaQWvCD9w/XPprGiGSvGI/AAAAAAAAPQs/AY-QTkZ-kKIS3yXWxQjiBrV0vIHXj-gkgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20190606_201005.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
It looks equally good on the other side too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WpiAJCyOPyE/XPprZegSrCI/AAAAAAAAPQ0/9VJF9T75pMYglPthPgwiYilFHq11Dy6OACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20190606_200925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="438" data-original-width="1360" height="206" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WpiAJCyOPyE/XPprZegSrCI/AAAAAAAAPQ0/9VJF9T75pMYglPthPgwiYilFHq11Dy6OACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20190606_200925.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Yep, still lookin' good.<br />
<br />
The other thing about this build is that it was so much trouble that I'm inclined not to do this again.<br />
<br />
Instead I think I'll focus on more of these.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This was a Ebay rust bucket when I got it, you can head over to Restomoddaisy on Youtube if you want to see just how bad it was. Now it's handling like it was made for me, (OK, it was) hitting like a brick at 325FPS, stacking rounds at a consistent 1" high and 1" wide at 30 feet and cuttin' cans with ease. All I need now it one of those Austrian Hats with the feathers and some funky shorts with suspenders.Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-3240279375210522102019-04-14T09:05:00.000-07:002019-04-14T09:05:46.134-07:00Rest-O-Mod Update<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Greetings All,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's been a while since I've put up a post here at the B&S site and lots of stuff has been happening the most peculiar of which was an explosion of hits last month that I can not explain. This site's been up almost 10 years and has mostly been an exercise in futility, a pleasant enough experience for me and the tens webcrawlers that have wandered through monthly but sorely lacking the reach required to generate any kind of revenue. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last month was different, 3500+ webcrawlers vs. 90+ which was the standard for years.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That's kind of hard to explain so it's basically unexplainable.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm going with the idea that the webcrawlers bots are addicted to images of fiddleback stocked Daisy BB guns. Yeah, that's the ticket, enough of the endless AI experimentation has leaked out to the internet-o-sphere to give the webcrawlers a sense of awareness. Skynet smiles when it senses cool BB guns!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So here's some crawlerbait, lets see if the hit rate expands yet again.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
There's a lot of angst about Daisy's current production Red Ryder built with Chinese parts assembled in the USA at Daisy. The up side is this is manufactured to Daisy specs and because it's made in the land of low production costs it's still really cheap. Especially if you haunt the aisles of your local Walmart and wait for the inevitable $24.95 mark down price. Be patient, it'll happen.<br />
<br />
Once you spy your intended target, buy two of them and head home chuckling with glee as you now have two for the price of one which means you can mod them any way you want. When you get done you'll have a functioning one-off that'll do anything a factory gun will do but that has your very own style stamped on it. The perfect heirloom pass down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7AUB70teaZw/W-LyeXcasCI/AAAAAAAAIyU/2ioauj-X1YIKE4XNdlarK3AY3FTI3qT2wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20181030_101855031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="566" data-original-width="1360" height="266" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7AUB70teaZw/W-LyeXcasCI/AAAAAAAAIyU/2ioauj-X1YIKE4XNdlarK3AY3FTI3qT2wCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20181030_101855031.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The stock Walmart Red Ryder is as basic as it gets with Daisy. The standard unit is equipped with the plastic lever, bare bones front sight, annoying bear-trap trigger and safety and the legendarily inconvenient leather thong. A quick and dirty upgrade is to simply replace the plastic lever with a new cast aluminum unit from Daisy, replace the stock front sight with one of Daisy's nifty fiber optic front sight units and get that leather thong out of the way.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oE_HO8qQSDI/W-LzxOSnU0I/AAAAAAAAIyk/9LT-2YOBllU2kaJ75AywMS7jG0_qBqs4ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20181030_101749758.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="577" data-original-width="1025" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oE_HO8qQSDI/W-LzxOSnU0I/AAAAAAAAIyk/9LT-2YOBllU2kaJ75AywMS7jG0_qBqs4ACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20181030_101749758.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
If that is enough and you're done, fine. But if you want to add a couple of easy touches that really make the gun stand out then redo the stock. The current production daisy has a Chinese hardwood stock of some description, I don't know anything about wood in China but this gun had something akin to poplar on it. The wood is very light and this unit had a tightish grain pattern hidden under the coat of stain/finish applied at the factory.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4plkIA5idXs/W-L1bAQsf-I/AAAAAAAAIyw/MAeQVVpEsYcjiX6RengpoxzaVavgWtcYQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20181030_101655071.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="577" data-original-width="1025" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4plkIA5idXs/W-L1bAQsf-I/AAAAAAAAIyw/MAeQVVpEsYcjiX6RengpoxzaVavgWtcYQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20181030_101655071.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided that I would do some applique work on this one so I removed the factory stain with a wipe down with acetone followed by a light sanding to 220 grit. Next I went to the scrap bin and pulled out some trims from other stocks and glued them up on the wrist of the butt stock and fore end to provide some pop. I then hit it with two coats of my wood dye formulation for fiddleback maple and let it air dry for a day or two. Once dry, I applied a heavy coat of Danish oil followed by a light coat applied with 320 grit wet/dry paper to knock down the fuzz and let that sit long enough to dry. Then it's polishing time. The effect is pretty nice and very smooth to handle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zff4PAjcuI4/W-L280R1G0I/AAAAAAAAIy8/wAIq4KrdhzA_tiH4IVAhk6CSdekm9WWnACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20181030_101644999.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="577" data-original-width="1272" height="290" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zff4PAjcuI4/W-L280R1G0I/AAAAAAAAIy8/wAIq4KrdhzA_tiH4IVAhk6CSdekm9WWnACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20181030_101644999.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Every time you do a project, you'll discover something. This time I discovered I'll just replace the forearm entirely as the applique just doesn't cut it in my opinion. I do like the butt stock modification as it retains the Red Ryder logo and improves the grip.<br />

Pretty ain't it?<br />
<br />
Today's offering is a Rest-O-Mod Daisy #102 Model 36 built in Rodgers Arkansas sometime after 1958. This little gems registration number is J947883 which is the key to deciphering it's actual build date. If one of the readership is possession of the holy grail of Daisy Collecting "It's a Daisy" by Cass Hough and can take a peek, let me know what you discover.<br />

<br />
This little guy was in pretty fair nick from the get go, good paint, good compression and most of it's original screws. No reason to strip the factory paint and fireblue it so I slapped on a glue up fiddleback maple buttstock and fore end on it and called it a day.<br />
<br />

Same shot with the fore end. The slotted screw is attached to a flanged bolt that has been profiled to fit the barrel shroud and attached with black JB weld. Good secure mount without the need for a barrel band.<br />

<br />
Time to put up another effort by Rest-O-Mod Daisy. Today's feature is a Daisy Model 75 Scout made in Plymouth Michigan sometime before 1958.<br />
<br />
This little gem was an outlier for my standard procedure of turning nasty, filthy, rusty, busted old Daisy's into objects of affection. This gun was pretty clean to start with. The plastic forestock was bowed but show me a 60 year old daisy that isn't. The butt stock was straight and the it shot hard enough to punch a hole in an aluminum can at 25 feet. Wonders never cease.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QuCLwfZSr-E/W6w_gWxrCtI/AAAAAAAAHTI/MPCPj7LG1C4vOfZ5_UT_iAFDyb9O-1LRQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180926_215355894_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="521" data-original-width="1359" height="244" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QuCLwfZSr-E/W6w_gWxrCtI/AAAAAAAAHTI/MPCPj7LG1C4vOfZ5_UT_iAFDyb9O-1LRQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180926_215355894_HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The trouble is I love messing with these Daisy's. So I restocked it in scrap fiddleback and had to configure the grip out of walnut. I'm happy with the result although it required some gap filling. I make no claim to being a Japanese craftsman although I can spell the word.<br />

<br />
Slapped a Rest-O-Mod steel butt plate on with solid brass screws. I know it violates the dissimilar metals school of thought but, OK, so what?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GtbtCliPbkU/W6xArMoks0I/AAAAAAAAHTc/S0NZ_yK0Gk87QGp-sNZyxAaAwUI0lQEQwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180926_215344280_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="524" data-original-width="1359" height="246" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GtbtCliPbkU/W6xArMoks0I/AAAAAAAAHTc/S0NZ_yK0Gk87QGp-sNZyxAaAwUI0lQEQwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180926_215344280_HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I also imported the revolutionary reverse Schnabel fore end from my "Mares Leg" project I did a while back. When you're mounting the gun after the reload cycle your support hand will slide back to the bulge and stay put. Snap off the shot and repeat, it's wonderful way to build muscle memory.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-diGeve-bQYM/W6xBfrv0buI/AAAAAAAAHTk/-C5SdDTnOLECx_1mT1WXrTllsEsbSzMZwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180926_215245297_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="577" data-original-width="1025" height="360" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-diGeve-bQYM/W6xBfrv0buI/AAAAAAAAHTk/-C5SdDTnOLECx_1mT1WXrTllsEsbSzMZwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180926_215245297_HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The main drawback is that this little guy has a factory length stock. That makes it a chin gun for me but for 6 year old, it's pretty damn manly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
One of the joys of being a parent is the fact that your kids come up with great idea's from time to time. Forget about that hole to China in the back yard, that was long time ago and they only made it down to 4 1/2 feet or so.<br />
<br />
I have been tinkering with BB guns their whole lives and they, like most of their generation, have spent countless hours on first person shooter gaming platforms. Behold the result!<br />
<br />
There is a game called Fall Out 3 that is set in a post-apocalypto world that actually features a BB gun as the first weapon you master before venturing out of the security of your "vault" to adventures in the scarred and mutant filled landscapes of the ruined country side.<br />
<br />
The first gun thing appealed to me and the fact that it sure as hell looks like a Daisy piqued my interest. If I can upgrade the rusted, broken old Daisy guns that I convert to Rest-O-Mods, surely I degrade the more modern plastic lever/safety guns to look like they've been through the apocalypse.<br />
And still shoot.<br />
<br />
<br />

So there it is. A Fall Out 3 Tribute daisy.<br />

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wzDGvdjqlQs/Wra-E5exrKI/AAAAAAAABgA/opZX51xaiB4l-ZJr8uziWwmpEtRQwtOjgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20171204_180241282_HDR%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wzDGvdjqlQs/Wra-E5exrKI/AAAAAAAABgA/opZX51xaiB4l-ZJr8uziWwmpEtRQwtOjgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20171204_180241282_HDR%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Not much to look at is it? I got this Daisy model 25 as a basketcase years ago. No stocks, an odd Hodge podge of parts , mismatched receiver and barrel assembly and no shot tube. Lots of Daisy's end up in this condition because the owner/operators (young boys) have a penchant for taking things apart and not putting them back together. Then it's off to the closet/barn/shed where it sits dormant and forgotten growing a nice patina of rust.<br />
<br />
The stocks on this one are curly maple and look OK but they didn't come with the gun. I just wasn't happy with the thinness as I built these as straight factory style replacements. I also wasn't too keen on the rusty receiver and painted barrel and decided to finish modding it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jarlu22jqf4/WrbAFY8HilI/AAAAAAAABgM/jzbQKmUrONkPoOY71iikdmHR65GYThU4gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180208_141635637.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jarlu22jqf4/WrbAFY8HilI/AAAAAAAABgM/jzbQKmUrONkPoOY71iikdmHR65GYThU4gCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180208_141635637.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Step 2, if you count the first set of stocks, was to remove the rust and paint from the receiver and fireblue them. After a couple of tries it got to an acceptable level and I started looking at the wood again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I0W4ir729kk/WrbA2Q73-xI/AAAAAAAABgU/VVabOLCQIwofyFsg6Zv0LgbePbZsX3bTwCLcBGAs/s1600/m25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="637" data-original-width="1132" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I0W4ir729kk/WrbA2Q73-xI/AAAAAAAABgU/VVabOLCQIwofyFsg6Zv0LgbePbZsX3bTwCLcBGAs/s640/m25.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I settled on doing a glue up curly maple stock with a finger groove wrist. Probably won't do that again. I do like the transition from the wrist to the butt stock proper and I'm gonna try that again in the future.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eylzktQLf-A/WrbBuSY7QrI/AAAAAAAABgg/n2YQnZ6esx4Lc7JTTNywC5GbzDH_zYSSACLcBGAs/s1600/M25goldcu.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1045" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eylzktQLf-A/WrbBuSY7QrI/AAAAAAAABgg/n2YQnZ6esx4Lc7JTTNywC5GbzDH_zYSSACLcBGAs/s640/M25goldcu.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I also broke out the gold stick and drove myself nuts trying to fill in the oh so faint roll engraving on the receiver. It finally stayed put and is quite a nice accent to the new stock set.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GdfYXqkQh1g/WrbCHxQ8f9I/AAAAAAAABgo/z7dGHvYnUuEKdLfvC0GakqHtN2dz2lDPACLcBGAs/s1600/M25gold.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="637" data-original-width="1132" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GdfYXqkQh1g/WrbCHxQ8f9I/AAAAAAAABgo/z7dGHvYnUuEKdLfvC0GakqHtN2dz2lDPACLcBGAs/s640/M25gold.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A slightly better picture with reduced glare.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-icI_53QJM4g/WrbCMB30FdI/AAAAAAAABgs/cPhMg_VGHOwBo_paCgnRVx_byjur9z__ACLcBGAs/s1600/M25goldfull.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="479" data-original-width="1360" height="224" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-icI_53QJM4g/WrbCMB30FdI/AAAAAAAABgs/cPhMg_VGHOwBo_paCgnRVx_byjur9z__ACLcBGAs/s640/M25goldfull.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The total package. Quite a long way from photo number one and hopefully good enough to keep it over the mantle, not in the shed.<br />
<br />
The next gun on the list is a Model 94 Red Ryder with no internals or stocks and my youngest son says I need to redo it as a Fallout Las Vegas tribute. What ever that is.<br />

I've always felt that your first rifle should be special and I've decided to do something about it.<br />
<br />
Here's a few photo's of some of my cap gun projects.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gOdGpZmNpvc/WrQezulX46I/AAAAAAAABc8/eI83QrFjU948kGQiD4I4GmBcrIK_q5aIACLcBGAs/s1600/cap1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="637" data-original-width="1051" height="385" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gOdGpZmNpvc/WrQezulX46I/AAAAAAAABc8/eI83QrFjU948kGQiD4I4GmBcrIK_q5aIACLcBGAs/s640/cap1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
All handcrafted in steel, copper and a nicely figured stock. The lock works and clicks with authority.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8vOfkQQ_OWs/WrQfQNarNOI/AAAAAAAABdA/Y54tb_6XNd02LAqzKJuxgneVJFxFwq3AgCLcBGAs/s1600/Cap3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="587" data-original-width="1196" height="314" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8vOfkQQ_OWs/WrQfQNarNOI/AAAAAAAABdA/Y54tb_6XNd02LAqzKJuxgneVJFxFwq3AgCLcBGAs/s640/Cap3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Another one with not so bold a stock, but a good view of the steel butt plate.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QNmcAMMhpMA/WrQgYJME9FI/AAAAAAAABdY/hz_3qE_d6rcU0AsK8ONOBO_QbaKKnJv0wCLcBGAs/s1600/Cap10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="515" data-original-width="1359" height="242" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QNmcAMMhpMA/WrQgYJME9FI/AAAAAAAABdY/hz_3qE_d6rcU0AsK8ONOBO_QbaKKnJv0wCLcBGAs/s640/Cap10.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the few guns I've done with walnut. They're quite pleasant and traditional but no pop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u8H9bVqBq6k/WrQg16wFVgI/AAAAAAAABdc/D9hwFprbDE4T6zKuuusooPaoYuQ0J19MQCLcBGAs/s1600/cap13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="589" data-original-width="1296" height="290" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u8H9bVqBq6k/WrQg16wFVgI/AAAAAAAABdc/D9hwFprbDE4T6zKuuusooPaoYuQ0J19MQCLcBGAs/s640/cap13.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is one of my fav's. Sort of a muskatoon with a too skinny wrist,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KtyFpm2JQYI/WrQhMBzcEMI/AAAAAAAABdk/PWRRF2drSUsSFl1c3pm9F6F9HEBe6qOTwCLcBGAs/s1600/Cap14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="402" data-original-width="1359" height="188" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KtyFpm2JQYI/WrQhMBzcEMI/AAAAAAAABdk/PWRRF2drSUsSFl1c3pm9F6F9HEBe6qOTwCLcBGAs/s640/Cap14.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here it is full size.<br />
<br />
That's all for today. Next post, Daisy Model 25 Rest-o-mod with new butt stock and highlighted engraving!Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-10744931617284260722018-03-11T19:07:00.000-07:002018-03-24T14:39:59.156-07:00Some new Pix<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Works in progress.</div>

<br />
I've pictured this Model 25 before and was not happy with the stock I made to the factory pattern. It now has a glue up curly maple stock that is being roughed out for finger grooves. I think it'll finish up nice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is a salvaged Model 1938B Daisy Red Rider not more than 10 years old. I picked it up a at local yard sale for a buck because of it having a flattened muzzle due to a unspecified garage mishap. It's morphed over the years from a rude and crude hacksaw Mare's Leg to it's current state. It's fireblued, in possession of a classic cast aluminum lever and super jazzy curly maple grip and finger grooved forearm. Shoot's well too.<br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PzL6APgMsi0/Wpc_FAgX3vI/AAAAAAAABQ4/nnLig_AVsl8RR2tcI97Dow58R09kWvpDgCLcBGAs/s1600/rr3%2Blft.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1044" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PzL6APgMsi0/Wpc_FAgX3vI/AAAAAAAABQ4/nnLig_AVsl8RR2tcI97Dow58R09kWvpDgCLcBGAs/s640/rr3%2Blft.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Red Ryder #3 is Daisy Model 94 Red Ryder Carbine that got rode hard and put up wet. A number of times. This one survived a crushed receiver, a failed mainspring support that was replaced by a 16 penny nail that over time bent into a pleasant "U" shape and the worst pitting I've seen so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oLDLXrNyFko/WpdAa7ittKI/AAAAAAAABRE/solkfobgGKgyTy9feOFzYJQWT75QDZEZACLcBGAs/s1600/rr3%2Bcu%2Bls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1044" height="360" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oLDLXrNyFko/WpdAa7ittKI/AAAAAAAABRE/solkfobgGKgyTy9feOFzYJQWT75QDZEZACLcBGAs/s640/rr3%2Bcu%2Bls.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It's also missing the signature latigo loop and supporting hardware as well as the the flip over peep sight/v-notch rear sight. The existing rear sight bracket does have a notch filed into it for your convenience, not a factory solution but it does work. There are also two small holes drilled into the rear of the receiver to aid in butt retention or something. This photo gives some clues as to the abuse this Red Ryder has endured.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W8T9DizIn9Y/WpdB7A1VwJI/AAAAAAAABRY/VyYnUPSJkm44uQywDVNZXUUzw7OYGCxHACLcBGAs/s1600/rr3%2Brt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1044" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W8T9DizIn9Y/WpdB7A1VwJI/AAAAAAAABRY/VyYnUPSJkm44uQywDVNZXUUzw7OYGCxHACLcBGAs/s640/rr3%2Brt.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The stocks are glue-up curly (ish) maple. They are not as vibrant as I had hoped but that is the nature of wood. This side shows some more of the waffly nature of the receiver. Still and all, the little gun shoots and has enough power for range events but does not fare well in a "Cut to Can" match.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVtp0yWyss0/WpdC9uSjNkI/AAAAAAAABRg/Zdg_e_Z9oBoop6zw-5lX_Y6rDhLn1149QCLcBGAs/s1600/RR3%2Bmuzzle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1044" height="360" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVtp0yWyss0/WpdC9uSjNkI/AAAAAAAABRg/Zdg_e_Z9oBoop6zw-5lX_Y6rDhLn1149QCLcBGAs/s640/RR3%2Bmuzzle.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
Here's a group shot of the Red Ryder gang. From the top, a Model 94 Red Ryder Carbine missing a few bits, #2 is a #111 Model 40 Rest-o-mod Red Ryder and #3 a complete Model 94 Red Ryder Carbine.<br />
<br />
I've got a Model 111 on the bench at the moment and rustled up yet another Model 94 receiver with no internals as well. That'll top the Red Ryder Bottlecap gang out at 5.<br />

Red Ryder #2 is off the bench and in the rack. Here are some pictures of the effort.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rS1E3JlM86Y/Wo4hfGJP-dI/AAAAAAAABNQ/YEs5UfjqI6QnHB0LtZPI5v1sewg8rHbZwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180221_204200252.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1044" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rS1E3JlM86Y/Wo4hfGJP-dI/AAAAAAAABNQ/YEs5UfjqI6QnHB0LtZPI5v1sewg8rHbZwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180221_204200252.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you can see this is sporting my new Martini style cocking lever, it's also got a .250 thick all steel trigger that is finished bright but due to my deplorable 'Photo Stand' it looks blue. It's not, it's silvery shiny. The stock on #2 is a two piece glue up from roughly 1" thick curly maple. I like this style stock because it adds heft to these little guns and helps them really stand out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-647SbL1OckI/Wo4jEWGpaPI/AAAAAAAABNg/hCgr-kN--QM6jcwgk7nMhSo0FK3qr54OACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180221_203046692.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="1045" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-647SbL1OckI/Wo4jEWGpaPI/AAAAAAAABNg/hCgr-kN--QM6jcwgk7nMhSo0FK3qr54OACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20180221_203046692.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also hand file the bottlecaps to remove dents and dings and highlight the bronze ring around the bore. Not needed but much better appearance.<br />

<br />
This is a view of the buttplate. All my Daisy rest-o-mods have buttplates. They're fire blued like all the other bits and do help keep the guns from getting damaged.<br />

Red Ryder #3 is in process and should be finished by the weekend. I'll post when it's done.Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-76330737169225466362018-02-19T17:57:00.000-08:002018-02-19T17:57:36.883-08:00Building better mousetraps or at least a old school Daisy lever<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uSbi1OCMgx4/Wot4Y8VbxCI/AAAAAAAABKM/9XnfQ_Rxtb84y-nXfZ30do86sGryXOiGwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180213_173613351.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uSbi1OCMgx4/Wot4Y8VbxCI/AAAAAAAABKM/9XnfQ_Rxtb84y-nXfZ30do86sGryXOiGwCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180213_173613351.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
What do you do when you want an old school Daisy lever that's not curved? Make one.<br />
<br />
I have a preference for straight grip musket style stocks on the the Daisy's I rest-o-mod and they are not common on the Red Ryder platform in any vintage. Nor are they readily available on any of the internet parts sites.<br />
<br />
Since all the cast aluminum levers I've come across are a pretty uniform 1/4" thick I decided to head over to the local big box and pick up some 1/4" x 2" steel. It's plenty strong enough to fabricate a BB gun lever.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bW3dIY9oKWk/Wot7xKz6zrI/AAAAAAAABKo/tk-W9CJqSp0fpOXyvkO0HDYchDJKx0dhACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180214_192847936.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bW3dIY9oKWk/Wot7xKz6zrI/AAAAAAAABKo/tk-W9CJqSp0fpOXyvkO0HDYchDJKx0dhACKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180214_192847936.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also had misgivings about the traditional lever shape on the Daisy's because during a speed shooting event like 'Cut the Can' you never get back to a full grip as you're blasting BB's as fast as humanly possible to reduce that aluminum soda can to two chunks. The top of the lever gets in the way. I've also wondered what increasing the lever length might do for improving the reload cycle.<br />
So I found out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OA0iRQ09nIU/Wot9LFYpkKI/AAAAAAAABK0/AauBqH3bMrEv18cuvrIUaF8PmNb9B0-vgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180218_232602443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OA0iRQ09nIU/Wot9LFYpkKI/AAAAAAAABK0/AauBqH3bMrEv18cuvrIUaF8PmNb9B0-vgCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180218_232602443.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Pretty damn jazzy. The lack of a traditional loop gets my hand back into firing position after reloading and cocking the beast. The Martini style loop gets kicked out by my firing hand thumb and then palmed as I rock the muzzle to cock the beast and then on to the next shot. Nice and fluid.<br />
<br />
And unique.<br />
<br />
Next post is all about triggers. Well not all about them, just the ones I make on occasion.Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-61548198591042076062018-02-13T18:18:00.000-08:002018-02-13T18:18:40.144-08:00Red Ryder Done<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MzqoQ4JnRLs/WoOXBv9ixDI/AAAAAAAABFI/OltD3GWqcLQEK7283gPcVTf98tBRVguXwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180213_204842598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MzqoQ4JnRLs/WoOXBv9ixDI/AAAAAAAABFI/OltD3GWqcLQEK7283gPcVTf98tBRVguXwCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180213_204842598.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My first Red Ryder restock is done. Due to the thinness of the receiver I opted to add some "Palm Swell" strips to the grip area to fill it out. The next one will be done with two pieces of fiddleback maple and then shaped. I'll also go with a slender forearm and see how my Martini lever project looks on it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCBmVfWl87Y/WoOYUU6vxKI/AAAAAAAABFU/1G2Dwzhq4IYsHZNiMEAvjj8Fe0O5VvtcwCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180213_204923799.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCBmVfWl87Y/WoOYUU6vxKI/AAAAAAAABFU/1G2Dwzhq4IYsHZNiMEAvjj8Fe0O5VvtcwCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180213_204923799.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This gun is an older bottlecap Model 94 that had leather seals. Well, the remnants of them anyway. That and the missing plunger tube compelled me to modify the newer rubber/poly seals and new plunger tube to get it to shoot. Real fiddly-bits, but it'll knock cans and toy soldiers off the garage range so it's all good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GtgWU4ichiY/WoOZRvl9xlI/AAAAAAAABFc/ztjJGz2qNtgmebLe__lnFhysgYuj8RLTgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180213_204900338.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GtgWU4ichiY/WoOZRvl9xlI/AAAAAAAABFc/ztjJGz2qNtgmebLe__lnFhysgYuj8RLTgCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180213_204900338.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a close up of the "palm swells" I opted for to improve the grip and you can see some of the color play on the receiver from the fire blue process I use. I go with a satin look because these old Daisy's all have rust and pits and dents and dings.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zUa_wZb7EB4/WoOahsi8eeI/AAAAAAAABFo/2w1OOJ_tdZ4Qt818M9akvhzjimM3Xmi4gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180213_205016462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zUa_wZb7EB4/WoOahsi8eeI/AAAAAAAABFo/2w1OOJ_tdZ4Qt818M9akvhzjimM3Xmi4gCKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180213_205016462.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Found an old stick of Birchwood Casey Gold Stick in a cupboard and had at it. I like it.<br />
<br />
That's all or now, by the end of the week I should have Red Ryder #2 done with a Martini style lever and billet trigger. It'll also be sporting a full glue up stock and maybe a cheek rest. Then it's on to Red Ryder #3,Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-72645141768515065892018-02-08T14:58:00.000-08:002018-02-08T14:58:05.086-08:00Custom Daisy'sAs far as I can tell, these custom Daisy model 99's, 98, 96 and 95's are unique on planet earth.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SM5B69r0AMk/WnzQP_razFI/AAAAAAAABBo/xfsfTsaUN6IxytGsnP0lJGr3GyhowWe2ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180208_150550735.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="901" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SM5B69r0AMk/WnzQP_razFI/AAAAAAAABBo/xfsfTsaUN6IxytGsnP0lJGr3GyhowWe2ACKgBGAs/s640/IMG_20180208_150550735.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's amazing the kind of transformation you can achieve with a propane torch and some wittlin' time on salvaged Fiddleback Maple. These old daisy wide frames are an absolute pleasure to shoot now that they fit like custom guns ought to and have enough weight to make the firing cycle pretty effortless. There's nothing like dumping 500+ bb's down the loading hatch and shooting these guns dry. Takes a while.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Wowser! A muzzle loading full auto flechette firing battery powered hand held mini-gun sling shot!<br />
<br />
I'd love to see the build sheet on this and then mod it for a stately copper and brass steampunk look.<br />

1968, 1986, 1994 and by extension, today's discussions on Gun Control rage on.<br />
<br />
I have yet to meet an non-Second Amendment compliant Libertarian and most of the guys and gals I hang with have skill sets to match their personal inventories. They are the epitome of responsible gun owners and a major bonus is their grasp of the history of the Republic and the importance of the natural right to defense of self and others.<br />
<br />
Libertarian Chuck Donovan lays it out in this video from three years ago. It was shot River Bend Gun Club during the course of an afternoon's entertainment on the range. Please note that this is the only take we made that day and Chuck wrote the script on the fly as he was speaking.<br />
<br />
His thoughts and words were valid in 2010 and are valid today.<br />

<span style="font-size: small;"><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;">Well, the old cash register is ringing here at Bludgeon & Skewer! Our nascent little website is actually making money due to the Adsense ads we have running on the site below the navigation bar. It ain't time to conduct a leveraged buy-out of CBS, but the fact that there is currently enough in the account to pick up a 12 Pack of Bud Ice blows us away. It's more raw cash than any of our other activities has raised, as opposed to the millions of dollars we have helped cost our republican and democrat friends in last year's run-off for the US Senate seat here in Georgia. Who says the Libertarians can't effect change?</span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;">Which brings us the central theme of this particular screed. Fund raising. Beggin' for money. moochin' for moolah, simpering for samolians and all around caterwauling for cash. Your cash. If we don't get it from you, where are we supposed to get it? We sure as hell don't have any of our own. No rich Uncles here, or trust fund cougars charmed by our peculiar brand of political adventurism. In fact, our little organization is completely cash free. As for that little bit of change under the counter, well, the cats got it.</span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;"><br /></span></span></h3>
<h3 align="left" id="sites-page-title-header" style="margin: 0px; padding: 3px 10px;" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">But there seems to be a way that the ol' B&S campaign fund can grow. Not by using the money of our somewhat quirky readership, but by harnessing the power of the internet and the terrible thirst that traditional political campaigns have for email lists, Facebook hits and all sorts of other contrived indicators of shifting public opiniion and political currents. The really cool part of this idea is that not only can you, the reader, generate money so some good ol' Tin Hat polishin', Heinlein readin', Star Trek watchin' Libertarians can take a brick bat to the entrenched political parties, you can make it happen with somebody else's freakin' money!</span></span></span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;"> </span><br /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">How can I do this you ask in astonishment? I don't have any money either! Haven't you heard there's a freakin' Man-cession going on? </span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">Brother, we have heard and we are part of it as well. If business was good do you think we'd have time to think about politics? Hell no, we'd be out there working to make some bucks, buy some kool stuff and spend more time honing our shooting skills. Like you we ain't got a spare cent. But there are evidently some folks out there awash with cash. The republicans and democrats. Political campaigns that is.</span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">Times are so hard that some of them are payin' good ol' adsense up to $2 to $3 for a single hit. How do we know this at Bludgeon & Skewer? We read our adsense account info and see that at least one political ad on our site generated $1.13 hit on our site two days ago. A $1.13 for one stinking hit on a free website that gets about 450 visits a month. Can you believe that? We almost can't, but Google says its so. </span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">So here's the plan. If any of you like what you read on this site, scroll down to the bottom and click on one of the adsense ads under the navigation bar. Google calls this alternative content and it's supposed to complement the stuff you see here. And it does, my favorite is the ad for Al Franken, you know the democratic that successfully stole that senate seat up north. Click on his ad but be aware that McAffee does have a site advisory on it. Click just one ad please, don't go overboard and get all crazy and stuff. </span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">Here's the hard part of it, come back tomorrow and do it all over again. Just think about being part of a slow fuse money bomb with someone else's money. That's a hell of a joke!</span><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><br style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">More to follow from you friendly neighborhood Libertarian Community Organizers!</span></span></h3>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Nothing like a clear and self evident choice when it comes to politics and the citizens of Georgia State Senate District 11 have one.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Libertarian Jeff Bivins has been working hard to get his message out as he sprints to the finish line next Tuesday and I found an interesting thread over at<a href="http://forum.gon.com/showthread.php?p=7523231"> Georgia Outdoor News</a> that illustrates his position on two very Libertarian issues, the 2nd amendment and sound money. I love it when candidates engage in message forums and respond to voters about the issues of the day. Here's the main course:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">On Tuesday Jan 8th, you have a unique opportunity to put the most pro-gun candidate in this race into the Georgia Senate!</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hi,</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I am Jeff Bivins and I am running for the Senate District 11 Special Election. I am THE pro-gun candidate. I have an AQ rating from the NRA and I am endorsed by Georgia Right to Life.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I am the only candidate to even return the "Georgia Gun Owners" survey (100% of course).</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I have a 20 year track record advancing the cause of freedom and preserving and restoring our gun rights at the grass roots level.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I will work to pass "Constitutional Carry"</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I will draft Senate Companion bills for the 4 pro-gun bills introduced by Charles Gregory in the House. That's the fastest way to get these laws on to the Governor's desk. I'm the only candidate that has taken this position and it will be my first order of business.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I will work to implement the soon-to-be-released "NRA Defensive Pistol" course as a step to creating an "Enhanced Concealed Carry License" that will allow holders to carry in government buildings, and most importantly, school campuses. One of my closest friends wrote the course for the NRA as he is a "Master Training Consultant" whereas I am a lowly NRA Certified Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun instructor.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I am an FFL and Class III dealer</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I am an advocate for "State Nullification" of unconstitutional federal law...like what is on the horizon.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I have a perfect score on the "Georgia Campaign for Liberty" survey.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">-I will fight to roll back "Sustainable Development"/UN Agenda 21 that the republican establishment is forcing down our throats. This is an all out war against our private property rights coming at us from numerous directions; from land use management to water rights.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Now is the time to re-establish our Republic starting in our own back yard. If you are in SW Georgia, please vote to keep our gun rights by voting for me. <h2>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; font-weight: normal;">And here's some more info on his stance on sound money:</span></h2>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">What is your position on the Constitutional Tender Act? Would you be willing to sponsor it if elected?</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Now that is one of the best questions I have had to date. </span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Yes, I would support that in a New York second, but we don't have time! I tried to run for our House seat in November, but the Georgia 2 party dictatorship has ballot access laws designed to keep independent thinkers complaining and moaning on the sidelines as the "political class" destroys our wealth and wrecks our cities, counties, states and nation. One issue that I presented at the Georgia Libertarian Convention, where I received a unanimous nomination, was addressing our coming fiat currency collapse. We must do something at the state level before we can address our floundering fiat currency at the federal level. We have completely lost control at the federal level, so we must act at the state level to avoid disaster.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Here is what I propose. We must institute a state owned and operated bank. I know for many Libertarians that is a bitter pill to swallow. However, we have a model to copy just as we have a model of state nullification of federal law to copy. It's not coincidence that these models come from the same state: North Dakota. All state finances such as payments (in and out), fees, and taxes are handled through the "Bank of North Dakota". Think of it as a really big credit union. They provide low interest loans (student, home, agriculture, etc) and handle all state employee funds. Check out their history here: </span><a href="http://banknd.nd.gov/about_BND/history_of_BND.html" style="color: black; font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" target="_blank">http://banknd.nd.gov/about_BND/history_of_BND.html</a><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Moneyed interests began to abuse farmers using the illegitimate financial tools given to them by the federal government and the private central banking cartel. The people of the state demanded protection from this financial predation in 1919...and they got it. Today it is the most sound banking institution in our nation. That is also not a coincidence. Any profit generated by the bank is rolled back into state government for the express purpose of reducing the cost of government to the taxpayer. This system works, and it is the fastest and easiest way to regain control over our financial destiny. Once we have achieved this in Georgia, our coffers will begin to fill. Once that happens and Georgia becomes an economic powerhouse, the rest of the nation will follow suit. And once that happens, we can force an end to the private central banking cartel and return to sound money.</span><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">I have always been a gold bug, but I must say that I am now open to alternatives such as silver (best) or even greenbacks that have TIGHT M1 CONTROL (quantity). Libertarian Jeff Bivins is Leading in the Donalsonville News Online Poll!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Things are heating up down in State Senate District 11.<br />
<br />
Libertarian Candidate Jeff Bivins is leading the pack with 37% of the votes in an online poll sponsored by the<a href="http://www.donalsonvillenews.com/v2/content.aspx?ID=55725&MemberID=2277&Title=Fashion-Beauty"> Donalsonville News</a> way down there in Seminole County.<br />
<br />
It's not a definitive predictor for the election but it is news and better yet it's news you can influence by hurtling through cyber-space and adding your vote to the total. Early voting has closed and just like Libertarian James Camp's race in Sate Senate District 30, turn out in State Senate District 11 is riding at 1%.<br />
<br />
Here's how the poll is running so far:<br />
<br />

The election happens Tuesday.<br />
<br />
According to the redoubtable <a href="http://times-georgian.com/pages/full_story/push?content_instance=21317305&need_to_add=true&id=21317305#cb_post_comment_21317305">Times-Georgian</a> way over in Carroll County, early voting for the special election for State Senate District 30 hasn't even hit 1%.<br />
<br />
Incredible.<br />
<br />
I suppose we're all kinda burned out from last years disastrous November elections and what with the holidays and all folks just got other stuff to do. Well the holidays are done and every Libertarian in Georgia should spend a moment or two and post their opinion to the article published today by Winston Jones on the state of the race. I decided to lead off with the comment below:<br />
<br />
<i>Bully for Libertarian James Camp!</i><br />
<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>The differences in participation rates between the 6 NOV 12 general election and the results of the republican run off are staggering. Going from a 70% general election participation rate to a 6.9% run off participation rate really helps illustrate how valuable a vote becomes in the rare and exotic land of run offs. A vote on 8 JAN 2013 is worth 10 votes from 6 NOV 2012. A great return for tapping a touch screen.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>If you're one of the 19,000 Douglas county citizens, the 10,000 Carroll county citizens or one of the 15,000 Paulding county citizens that voted for either Libertarian Brad Ploeger or Libertarian David Staples for PSC last November then you really should consider hitting the polls and voting for Libertarian James Camp in the special election. Not all of those guys and gals will get to vote in this special election, but if only 3.5% of them take the time and make the effort, that spells victory for James Camp.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Deny the Georgia republican party a super-majority at the Gold Dome. Cast your ballot for liberty! Vote for Libertarian James Camp!</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
The article currently has 302 views and my solo comment waiting for approval. Consider that this election has received great coverage in the district but virtually none elsewhere. Your participation can help James Camp win an unprecedented victory out there in Senate District 30 and put the kibosh on the Georgia republican party's dreams of a super-majority.<br />
<br />
So tag in and state your case in support of James Camp. Better yet, if you live in the district or know somebody that does, get yourself and your buddies to the polls on Tuesday and.....<br />
<br />
VOTE FOR JAMES CAMP!<br />

Libertarian Jeff Bivins Qualifies for the Special Election for Georgia State Senate District 11!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://gallery.mailchimp.com/87683a401a30f2c9e7d69ae76/images/jeff_and_john.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://gallery.mailchimp.com/87683a401a30f2c9e7d69ae76/images/jeff_and_john.png" width="290" /></a></div>
I do believe this is the busiest post election December in Georgia history.<br />
<br />
Thanks to Libertarian Jeff Bivins pictured here with Libertarian stalwart, John Monds.<br />
<br />
First there's the special election over in Georgia State Senate District 30 with<a href="http://www.votejamescamp.com/"> Libertarian James Camp</a> carrying the banner of Liberty. Now we have Libertarian Jeff Bivins jumping into the special election for Georgia Senate District 11 way down south near the Florida/Ala-damn-bama line.<br />
<br />
All of this activity has been prompted by an unusual flurry of republican discontent and/or medical/family issues that have caused three duly elected republican office holders to bail out of the legislature. Two of 'em are headed towards greener full time employment pastures in state government courtesy of Governor Deal.<br />
<br />
The end result is that the Libertarian Party of Georgia has two candidates qualified and running for State Senate seats in the affected districts. I also note that the other part of our fair states two party duopoly that has unrestricted ballot access, you know, the democrats, have failed to find anybody willing to run in either district 11 or district 30. Shouldn't they lose their "real political party" card over that?<br />
<br />
There's still one day left in the qualifying process so there may be a surprise or two tomorrow but I kinda doubt it. The big news of the day is that the Libertarian Party of Georgia has two, count 'em, two State Senate candidates running for office.<br />
<br />
That's good news for Liberty!Shane Brucehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02305681149518966121noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4293098935677292037.post-26154980092877651462012-12-05T16:22:00.000-08:002012-12-05T16:22:43.789-08:00Breaks Over, Special Election in Georgia State Senate District 30!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/c0.0.403.403/p403x403/3436_462114970501380_209039480_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/c0.0.403.403/p403x403/3436_462114970501380_209039480_n.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
I've been a bit of a lay-about for the last 30 days or so but break time is over.<br />
<br />
Biggest news of the last two days is the run off victory of republican Mike Dugan over republican Bill Hembree way out there in Georgia State Senate District 30. The expectation was that veteran politician Bill Hembree would get the nod and face off against Libertarian James Camp in the actual election on 8 JAN 2013. So much for conventional wisdom.<br />
<br />
Now the hard work starts for James Camp.<br />
<br />
While Dugan is not an entrenched republican incumbent, he will have access to resources that James Camp is gonna have a hard time matching. Sooner or later the rest of Georgia's media will catch on the fact that this special election for the Georgia Senate is going to determine whether or not we all get blessed with a republican super-majority down at the capitol. Sooner or later the voters of Georgia Senate District 30 will realize they get to call the shot on this. And it probably won't take all that many of them to determine if we run lemming like into republican state government that won't say no, or pause and and take a moment to consider.<br />
<br />
The differences in participation rates between the 6 NOV 12 general election and the results of the republican run off yesterday are staggering. Going from a 70% general election participation rate to a 6.9% run off participation rate for yesterdays contest really helps illustrate how valuable a vote becomes in the rare and exotic land of run offs. A vote on 8 JAN 2013 is worth 10 votes from 6 NOV 2012. A great return for tapping a touch screen.<br />
<br />
If you're one of the 19,000 Douglas county citizens, the 10,000 Carroll county citizens or one of the 15,000 Paulding county citizens that voted for either Libertarian Brad Ploeger or Libertarian David Staples for PSC last November then you really should consider hitting the polls and voting for Libertarian James Camp in the special election. Not all of those guys and gals will get to vote in the special election, but if only half of them take the time and make the effort, that's probably close to victory for James Camp.<br />
<br />
Close should be good enough but it ain't. If you haven't been to his <a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001086445927">facebook</a> page, go! If you haven't commented over at the<a href="http://www.douglascountysentinel.com/view/full_story/21021641/article-Dugan-upsets-Hembree-for-District-30-Senate-GOP-nomination"> Douglas County Sentinel</a>, go! If you haven't hit the<a href="http://www.votejamescamp.com/"> donate button</a> at his campaign website, go!<br />
<br />
Times a-wastin'!<br />
